Easter in Minnesota

Because we spent Easter at home this year, we headed up to MN to celebrate Easter with my family the following weekend.  We hadn't been up to Minnesota in three months!  I am not sure it had ever been that long that we hadn't traveled north to see my family so we were definitely due for a trip.  On a side note-my parents had been down twice to visit us.  We had a wonderful weekend!  On Saturday my sister and the kids came down for dinner and an egg hunt!  Elsie just can't get enough of egg hunts :)

Both my Grandmas came over for dinner and to visit too so it was wonderful to be able to see so many family members!

SCC Spring Festival

A few weeks ago, John, Elsie and myself met up with Brandi and the girls at the local county conservation Spring Festival.  We also went last year and had a really nice time.  This year the weather was beautiful (compared to last year).  It was sunny and probably somewhere in the 60's.  When we first got there we headed down to the canoe area.  Elsie liked the idea of canoeing but after a few minutes on the water she was over it and ready to move on to the next thing so it was fun while it lasted.

My little paddler

After canoeing we made our way to the fishing area.  The park has a little pond so it was shared by people fishing and canoeing.  I think this is the first time Elsie has ever fished before.

Checking out the creek.

After fishing we went to check out the other programs.  Last year they had a naturalist there that did a program with live animals such as frogs and snakes.  This year they had music.  For the actual program we enjoyed last years more although the music was nice to listed to while doing some of the other activities.

Elsie LOVED the binoculars.  She did not want to put them down.  I said this last year but she is definitely my little nature girl.

After finally getting her to put the binoculars down she wandered over to frog calling area.  These little demonstrations reminded me so much of my time at Eagle Bluff and did many of these sames activities.

The last thing we did was make a rain stick.

Meanwhile, the girls enjoyed climbing in the tree.

Another wonderful event!  Can't wait for next year.

George Strait-April Date Night

Way back in November, John and I decided right before tickets went on sale to get tickets for George Strait.  We figured it would be a wonderful date night idea.  So we got tickets for just the two of us.  Not long after, we discovered that there was a bunch of us that all got separate tickets so we decided to all ride down together.  We wanted to get a limo but it was going to be too expensive for the amount of time actually using the limo so we ended up renting a 15 passenger van and hired some friends to drive us and pick us up!  It was the perfect arrangement.

The crew!

Me and my honey :)  I just love this guy

Our seats were decent.  Not on the floor but in one of the first few rows of the 100 Level.  The concert overall was okay.  It was his farewell tour and was happy that we went since I have always wanted to see him.  Ronnie Dunn (from Brooks and Dunn) was his opener and I really enjoyed that part because I knew all the songs.  With George he has so many older songs that I think I only recognized like half of them.  I think I was mainly dissapointed because he didn't sing "I Cross My Heart" which is John and my wedding song (and it inscribed in his wedding band).  Oh and when he came back on for his encore he sang a song that really isn't well known and the crowd totally died down.  So I guess that is my honest review of his performance.  Super glad we went, had an awesome time, loved spending time with my honey as well as our friends and was happy to finally see this guy in concert!
