We hadn't planned to do a garden this year. We figured we would just have the raspberry plants and then tomatoes and pepper plants like last year. Then one day something just flipped in my mind and I wanted a garden-and I wanted to try to start plants inside. So we headed out to the store, bought some seeds, and some starting supplies. Here is a little timeline of our garden journey so far.
March 29th, 2015
We started marigolds-two different varieties, Zinnias, and pepper plants. When Elsie came to visit us in the hospital after Evie was born she told us that some of the plants were sprouting already.
April 8th, 2015
John and Elsie started more marigolds and zinnias and then they started the zucchini plants.
April 16th
Progress of our seedlings.
April 18th 2015
We planted our first veggies outside: Peas, carrots, radishes, and onions-red, yellow, and white.
April 22nd
John ended up setting up this water tank they use for the cattle as a rain barrel. It is hard to believe that this 200 gallon tank filled up from one rain-rain that came off of one half of our detached garage.
May 2nd, 2015
Progress of the onions, radish, and carrots
This day we also planted beans and our herb plants in our herb garden which is up by the house. We started our cantelope seeds indoors with hopes to transplant them outdoors in a few weeks. We also went and purchased our strawberry plants.
Progress of our peas
Raspberry patch. There are a few growing :)
May 4th, 2015
Planted 48 strawberry plants-4 different varieties: two june bearing and two ever bearing varieties.
May 6th, 2015
Elsie harvested the first of our crop-a strawberry. Albeit one that was on the plant when we bought it :). Elsie was so excited and now we have to constantly check for strawberries after every nap and in the mornings.
We still are planning to plant two varieties of cucumbers, tomatoes, potatoes, lettuce, and transplant the zucchini and peppers. Hopefully soon though.
