Easter Egg Dying and Hunt

On Sunday we had a little Easter Celebration with John's family.  With the impending arrival of our little babe any day now and my parents coming to stay over the Easter weekend we thought it would be a good time to get together and celebrate because who knows what next weekend will bring :)

We started out first by dying Easter Eggs, then did a little egg hunt in our house, and the headed over to a neighboring down for lunch.

Don't mind this girl's hair!  We just can't control it.

Elsie's Easter Eggs

Time to start the egg hunt.  We split it up between the two littles and the two olders so we could make it more challenging for the older girls.

January Family Funday-SCI

One of my goals this month is to have a "Family Funday" at least once a month.  A day that is set aside where we don't do any work and just have fun with our little family.  The last weekend in January we were planning on going up to MN to have our "Family Funday" but because of the weather we weren't able to travel (and I had been a bit under the weather).  So we changed our plans and thought we would out our membership to the Science Center of Iowa to good use and spend the morning/early afternoon in Des Moines.

Our first stop was the Science Center where we met up with the Marc, Amber and the kids.  It was Amber's birthday so her and her family were spending the day and night in Des Moines at a waterpark.  So it was fun for the kids to see each other there.

There was a traveling exhibit called "Earth Explorers". It was a pretty neat exhibit and nice to have a change from the normal exhibits they have.

Elsie can never get enough of jeeps.  I feel like we see these everywhere - well at least at the zoo too :)

They had a mock submarine where you could feel like you were in side of a submarine...

And they had an arctic explorer too.  She jumped right one and then kept saying "Hop on Cayden, Hop on" until he finally joined her on the sled.

Making and launching a paper rocket with Daddy.

And of course, the ball wall was a huge hit!

Playing trains with Cayden.

After the Science Center the three of us headed just down the block for lunch at one of my faves in the area-Hessen Haus.  I can't get enough of their beer cheese soup.  By this point Elsie was exhausted and didn't eat much because she was tired.  She kept saying "I'm sleepy Mommy" and requested to sit in a high chair vs. a regular chair.  So we quickly ate and headed home.  She must have been tired because once we got home, we laid her down and she slept for another hour and a half.  That was pretty much the end of "Fun Day" however we took it easy the rest of the day.
